This self portrait is a result of my recent triumphs in art. My process includes using my own feminine touch; Patience, kindness, and emotional strength; And, also relates to my love of literature. Connecting to nature begins in England, where I am originally from. My motivation is found in the feminine connections I can make in each step. Conceptually connecting to Modern writers like Virginia Woolf motivates me to continue communicating my message. A goal to provide a sense of comfort through simple forms. The lighthouse is my goal. Through this painting, I continue to choose art at every moment. Following the light brings me joy. In literature, Virginia Woolf’s To the Lighthouse communicates a similar narrative that I’ve been experiencing. Much like the character Lily Briscoe, a daughter who manages to finish her own painting as the lighthouse is repaired, I too face challenges in my own self portrait. She learns to trust her own creative instincts in uncertainty. Just as I am learning to juggle life with an overwhelming passion for creation. There is balance in an attempt to create harmony.
