Eutrophication- an environmental process where there is an excess of nutrients that enters a freshwater river in a saltier body of water like the ocean, which causes growth of algae blooms that require bacteria to dematerialize. This final step uses a lot of oxygen that ocean life needs in order to survive. That's why it is important to advocate for awareness of this process to protect our waters and aquatic organisms.
