My family moved from England to America in 2008 when I was five years old. In this collection of poetry and digital illustrations, I am using autoethographic qualitative arts based research to share what it was like immigrating as a child. There were challenges I faced due to the language barrier that caused misunderstanding for the context of what I’m saying. My hope is to use my own story as an immigrant and a researcher to advocate for other child immigrants that are misunderstood because of their original dialect. I use food as a symbol because taste anchors my connections to memory of when I was younger.
